LOCTION TEMPORARILY CLOSED - Great River Brewery's roots began with a love for great craft beer. College friends Paul Krutzfeldt and Scott Lehnert spent their college years thinking about beer, drinking beer and devising a beer plan. In 2004, the put the pedal to the metal and started a brew pub in Iowa City, Iowa. In December of 2008 the entire brewing operation was moved to Davenport, Iowa with hopes of starting their lifelong dream of packaging their hand-crafted beers.
On a chilly day in February 2009, the first batch of beer was brewed at the new location on the Mississippi River. Packaging began in May of 2010, with 483 Pale Ale and Roller Dam Red Ale in 16 oz. cans.
What's on tap?
Great River Brewery offers flagship brews such as the 483 Pale Ale, Roller Dam Red Ale, Dirty Blonde Chocolate Ale, West Coast Style IPA, Farmer Brown Ale as well as staple seasonals such as Strawberry Blonde Ale, Honey Hemp, Oktoberfest, and Vanilla Porter. In addition to the core styles, Great River Brewery has a rotation of unique experimental beers that change every week.
Our brewmaster, Scott Lehnert, enjoys creating a beverage that brings people together. "It's fun to brew new recipes and reinvent styles that test the boundaries of consumers' palates. "
Formally an automotive shop, Great River Brewery has an industrial vibe with a rich history and a DIY spirit. Fans love our dog-friendly patio and easy access off the bike path. Great River Brewery is locally owned brewery that sits near the Mississippi River in the heart of downtown Davenport, Iowa.
While there are many great breweries in the Quad Cities, Great River Brewery features the only beer engine, which means we can pour firkins straight from the tap. We're also the only brewery in town with our own canning line and we were the first brewery in North America to shrink-wrap our can labels.
